You will need to press the vacuum valve on the lid continuously and quickly. As the air is extracted, you will feel increasing resistance. Once it becomes difficult to press, the container has successfully reached an optimal vacuum state.
Can I store fine powders like ground flour or match tea directly in the jar?
To protect the internal mechanism, it is highly recommended to place powdered items into a food bag first before putting them into the jar. Shaking the canister or pumping air with loose powder inside can cause debris to be sucked into the air extraction valve, which may clog and damage the sealing system.
How should I clean the vacuum lid safely without breaking it?
The lid must never be submerged in water or rinsed under a faucet, as moisture will clog the vacuum holes and ruin the suction effect. Simply wipe the lid down with a damp cloth or use a soft brush to clear away dust. The stainless steel body, however, can be fully rinsed and washed normally.
